Bridge To A Cure Foundation Challenges Southwest Florida Heroes to “Brave the Shave” for Childhood Cancer Cures
Volunteers get bald to raise funds for St. Baldrick’s Foundation
Bridge To A Cure Foundation, a national childhood cancer non-profit based in Fort Myers, Florida, announces its first ever “Brave the Shave” head-shave challenge. “Brave the Shave” is set for St. Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17th from 2-6 p.m. at Bell Tower Shops on Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers.
During the event, volunteers who have enlisted donations from friends and family will bravely receive a head or beard shave from licensed barbers in solidarity with the courageous children fighting cancer across the community. Those unable to participate in the head-shave fundraiser can raise funds in another way or donate to the Bridge To A Cure “Brave the Shave” fundraiser online. In addition to providing the venue, Bell Tower Shops is sponsoring family-friendly entertainment, kids’ activities, and festive St. Patrick’s Day music.
Proceeds from “Brave the Shave” benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the nation’s largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants. “Brave the Shave” fundraising partners include the Fort Myers Fire Department, South Trail Fire & Rescue, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Crowther Roofing, and other individuals. The Bell Tower Shops, Beasley Broadcasting, ABC-7 News, SportClips, and Rivet Brands sponsor.
“Cancer took my amazing six-year-old granddaughter Clara in 2017,” explains Bridge To A Cure Foundation president Robert Martin. “We’re determined to raise funds for our childhood cancer coalition partner St. Baldrick’s, the largest nongovernment funder of childhood cancer research. They provide grants for peer-reviewed, innovative research projects by the brightest medical minds. When people participate in our Brave the Shave initiative, they’re helping to accelerate better treatments and cures for our nation’s most vulnerable patients.”
